The case gained national attention as evidence revealed that Bailey had 114 knife wounds on May 9, 2021. Fucci was 14 years old and was prosecuted as an adult.
Smith previously stated that he wants to decide on sentencing within a week.
In February, he stated, “I’m not going to drag this out any longer than necessary.”Oh, now I’ll take three more weeks,” I don’t want to remark at a sentencing hearing.
With evidence from sheriff’s detectives, crime analysts, a medical examiner, and a psychologist, the first day of the sentencing phase seemed more like a trial.
However, many photos, videos, and interviews painted a complete picture of what occurred on Mother’s Day weekend in 2021 in the St. Johns County neighborhood where the two lived.

Camera footage from a nearby household shows two persons, thought to be Fucci and Bailey, heading east on Saddlestone Road near where her corpse was discovered near the end of a retention pond. The duplicate footage shows Fucci returning alone, carrying his shoes, an hour and 45 minutes later.
According to an unredacted warrant affidavit obtained by the State Attorney, an autopsy found Tristyn had 114 “stab or cutting wounds across her head, neck, shoulders, arms, hands, and back.” According to the medical examiner, at least 49 were defensive wounds.
The new records also disclose unsettling tips regarding Bailey’s sad demise that the Patriot Oaks Academy administration and investigators received.
The finding materials also include around 20 emails and voicemails made to the K-8 school in the days following the death of the adolescent girl whose favorite color was aqua.
“I was curious whether you knew anything or if anybody had notified you about some of the horrific things that have been posted about the recently slain Tristyn Bailey at your school,” one caller stated.
